HIGH SCHOOL FIELD SAFETY CHECKLIST

 

1. Footing on pitch, including areas outside touchlines where the ARs will be working:

Check for holes, uneven areas, sprinkler heads protruding and drainage holes covered with grates, rocks or dangerous depressions, or anything else that can be tripped over or slipped on.

 

            (Play the game unless player or crew safety is unreasonably      compromised, and in any case, make a report.)

 

2. Goals

 

            A. Must be anchored securely so they can not be blown or pulled over

 

            GAME CANNOT BE PLAYED IF GOALS ARE NOT ANCHORED

 

            B. If football goalposts present:

                        i. Crossbar must be recessed from soccer goal crossbar

                        ii. If support structure is in goal, it must have padding

 

3. Near the soccer pitch:

 

A. Running track:

           

            Elevated curb must be at least 5 yards from touchlines/goal lines

 

B. Jumping pits:

 

            If sand/dirt within 5 yards of touchlines/goal lines, must have      smooth, secure\ cover at ground level

 

            If foam (High Jump/Pole Vault), must be removed from within 5             yards of touchlines/goal lines

 

C. Hurdles

 

            Must be safely stored more than 10 yards from touchlines/goal lines
